Absolute Fighting Championship 6 Review
by Ben Stark

Saturday, December 6th 2004 at the War Memorial Auditorium in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.

This event had all the making of what could have been a great PPV and what will be an awesome DVD. It was the most solid card that I’ve seen put on in this state in quite a while. The fans came out in force to this event practically filling up the auditorium. These fans were not let down at all. The fights tonight were Absolute Fighting Championship 6 Reviewso good there is no way to pick a fight of the night, but good mentions go to the Wilson Goveia vs. Ron Faircloth rematch and the Jorge Masvidal vs. Julian Ortega fight.

MAIN EVENTS:
185 LBS: Dustin Denes defeated Adrian Serrano by arm bar rd 1. Dustin dominated the whole fight, all 2 min of it.

145 LB TITLE DEFENSE: Mike Brown got the nod over AFC 145 lb Champion Leigh Remedios. The fight started out pretty even, rd 1 was give and take as was round 2 with myself leaning toward Brown. The 3rd round was a totally different story with Brown dominating Leigh with multiple take downs and a solid GnP.

FEATURE BOUTS:
225 LBS: Wilson Goveia took the decision over Ron Faircloth In a rematch, last time they met Faircloth won when Goveia punched himself out in the first round. This time was a completely different story with Wilson coming prepared and dictating the pace. Wilson landed 2 crisp high kicks in the first stunning Ron multiple times. The second round showed the wear on both fighters with Wilson jumping guard once or twice but still on his feet using legs and his boxing very affectively.

170 LBS: Keith Wisniewski got the TKO win over Jorge Santiago by ref stoppage in the 3rd round. Jorge was running the show in the first round, landing solid combinations and triangling Keith. Keith managed to last through triangle and finish out the round. Second round showed good striking and grappling just at a much slower pace, Keith landed a hard left that seemed to rock Jorge; the round ended both fighters showing they were tired. Jorge seemed to have lost his wind completely in the 3rd round coming out and seemed to just lay down, he was taking a lot of shoulder strikes, Keith sat up and started raining down blows, Jorge did his best to defend but the ref jumped in.

UNDERCARD:
155 LBS: Jorge Masvidal won an impressive decision over Julian Ortega of Gracie Miami. Jorge’s ground game was tested early in the first and he showed he was no chump on the floor. Once the fight got back to its feet Masvidal started to take charge. The fight went back to the floor multiple times with Jorge exploding with GnP to the body and head with very fluid combos winning the decisive decision.

170 LBS: Derrick Noble defeated Thiago 'PITBULL' Alves by RNC in the 2nd round. Thiago came out in the 1st round ready to go. He took it to Derrick standing up and on the ground, taking Noble down twice in the first round. While Thiago was on top he was doing great striking well and staying safe or submissions. Pitbull got swept and escaped back to his feet where he took Noble down again. Noble got top and Thiago seemed to panic giving up his back Noble sank in the hooks and had Thiago in trouble but He escaped and the bell rang. In the 2nd round Thiago got taken down and again showed his inexperience in the ground game by giving up his back there Noble capitalized submitting Pitbull with the RNC.

205 LBS: Anthony Rea submitted Davion Peterson with a nice arm bar/triangle choke in the 2nd round. Rea dictated the pace of the entire fight with great sprawls and good striking finally getting the win in the 2nd with the arm bar/triangle.

185 LBS: Charles McCarthy won a very impressive victory over Pat O'Malley in 28 seconds! Charles came in fast and ate a knee putting him down, Charles instantly bounced back and came in hard at O’Malley taking his leg and locking on the heel hook. O’Malley’s leg seemed to pop, I’m pretty sure he tapped but it might have been stopped.

170 LBS: Joel Blanton dominated Artie Britto getting the win by ref stoppage due to strikes.

185 LBS: John Kolosci defeated Brent Calloway by submission due to strikes ˝ way through the first.
