Cabbage Interview
by SeaBass aka Tom, Team IronLife.com Writer
Ironlife.com: Cabbage, first of all I would like to thank you for taking the time to conduct this interview with me. I'd like to start things off by getting some general background
information from you.
Where did the nickname "Cabbage" come from?
Cabbage: When I was a kid I looked like a cabbage patch kid, short with bushy hair.
Ironlife.com: Were you born and raised in Hawaii?
Cabbage: Yes, born and raised in Hawaii.
Ironlife.com: Did you ever get involved in any other sports while growing up? If so, which ones?
Cabbage: Yes, I did wrestling, got my brown belt in judo, boxing, jiu- jitsu.
Ironlife.com: What are some of your hobbies?
Cabbage: Swimming, running with my dog's and everything else.
Ironlife.com: Is mixed martial arts your only job?
Cabbage: Yes it is but I'm planning on going to school to be an athletic trainer.
Ironlife.com: When did you start competing and what exactly got you into the sport of mixed martial arts?
Cabbage: Boxing and I started MMA when I was 20.
Ironlife.com: When did you and BJ Penn get together and start training?
Cabbage: Since day one.
Ironlife.com: What's it been like making the transition from the SuperBrawl fight scene in Hawaii to the Ultimate Fighting Championship?
Cabbage: It's been great, I don't get nervous anytime anyways.
Ironlife.com: Your fighting career didn't exactly get off to the best start. You lost three fights right off the bat to Eric Pele, Travis Fulton and Preston Hartzog. Since then you've really gone on a tear. What do you think was the biggest reason for the turn around in your career?
Cabbage: My Heart and determination to be the best.
Ironlife.com: Do you feel Tim Sylvia was your toughest fight?
Cabbage: No, not my toughest fight, my dumbest fight yes.
Ironlife.com: Speaking of Tim Sylvia I'd like to ask you something else real quick. I'd like to hear your thoughts on the recent events concerning Tim Sylvia and his steroid use in the UFC. Do you feel his title should be taken away? If his title's taken away do you feel that will be punishment enough?
Cabbage: If he took it then he should be punished for it, but let me get one thing straight; if they take the belt away from him I wont be happy until I get to fight him for the belt.
Ironlife.com: Let's move on to your fight with Tank Abbott. Everyone really seems to be looking forward to it. I know that we, the fans, are going to see a brutal stand up war between you and Tank. Has your training changed at all preparing to fight a guy like him?
Cabbage: Nope, it has not changed, just sharpening up my hands and movement.
Ironlife.com: Do you feel that the outcome of this fight will be the final nail in the coffin on Tank Abbott's MMA career?
Cabbage: Nah, he'll be back but not for a long time..............
Ironlife.com: Is this some what of a rivalry? Has there been any trash talk between you two?
Cabbage: No rivalry, just new school vs. old school. There's been some trash talk.
Ironlife.com: How many more fights are on your UFC contract? When your contract is up would you like to stay with the organization?
Cabbage: I would love to stay with the UFC, I like the cage and the fan base.
Ironlife.com: I'd like to mention some fighters right now that I'd like to see you fight after Tank. I'm going to list their name's and I would like you to give us some quick thoughts on them.
- Andrei Arlovski
Cabbage: Hairy
- Kimo
Cabbage: Roided out fag
- Gan McGee
Cabbage: Glass jaw
- Pedro Rizzo
