Since the biggest excuse I get for not sticking to a diet is “I’m too busy” I thought I would give out some simple, time saving tips for the dieter on the go. Dieting is not rocket science but it can be time consuming and does take some time management skills if you are one of those people who don’t stay in one place long throughout the day.

Three essential pieces of equipment for the dieter on the go are a small to medium size cooler, a lidded container of some type that can hold liquid and be shaken, and of course, get some Tupperware. Once you get these you have no excuse for running out of healthy food and having to hit a drive-thru or even worse – skip a meal!!

First thing to do is plan your diet out for the week. Write down what you are planning to eat, consult your daily schedule and figure out what time each meal is going to be. It’s not impossible to work around a hectic school/work schedule but it does take some effort. Breakfast is a no brainer – get up a few minutes earlier and fix breakfast!!! I don’t have time for breakfast is a poor excuse. Make the commitment; set the alarm a few minutes earlier AND GET UP! Second, look at your menu and pre-cook what you can. Cook up a weeks worth of chicken, rice and veggies, etc.

“dieting" Each morning or even the night before pack your food into the plastic containers, measure some protein powder out in a zip-lock bag and pack yourself a cooler with your food and some bottled water for your shakes. Try not to rely on protein bars but if you must, a protein packed bar is better than nothing. If you didn’t have time to cook up your chicken – grab some canned tuna or chicken. Even if you don’t have access to a microwave most of the food on your diet can be eaten cold. It might not taste that great but that’s one of the prices you pay for results.

The bottom line is how committed are you? If you are not committed 110% it’s easy to use being busy, kids or not having access to a kitchen as an excuse. Dieting is never easy but is especially hard and tiring if you are an on the go person or if you have children. There is no easy answer. The only answer is - do your planning and be willing to make your day a little longer to make sure you get those meal times in for yourself. You may have to get up earlier and go to bed later but if you are willing to make that commitment and really want results there will be absolutely no obstacles to sticking with your diet.

Just think how good you are going to look and feel as those pounds start melting off!
