Extreme Combat Challenge Ho Ho Ho KO
by Brendan "The Caucasian Devastation" Seguin / friend of IronLife
Extreme Combat Challenge, held Ho Ho Ho KO on December 18, 2004 in Muncie, Indiana. The two main events for the night finished relatively quickly.
The first, was Antoine Skinner vs. Steve Davis for the 155 lb. title. An aggressive Skinner immediately attacked Davis with a high kick that knocked him off balance. Skinner then, immediately, commenced to pummeling Davis relentlessly until he finally turtled up and the referee stopped the fight.
Skinner wins by TKO in the first round and retained the 155 lb. title.
The second and final title fight for the night was Joe Voisin (Eastside Combat Club - Team Seguin) vs. Jason Dent for the 145 lb. belt. Voisin initiated the action with a quick takedown that put Dent on his back making him susceptible to Voisin's devastating ground attack. Voisin managed to get into north/south position and landed a pair of hard knees to the top of Dent's head which appeared to be a fight stopper, but Dent managed to escape and get back to his feet. Voisin, again, took the fight to the ground with a beautiful head-and-arm throw that put him into side mount position and then gained a mounted position that Dent, once again, got out of and put Voisin into his guard. Dent attempted a nice armbar, which at one point was fully extended, but Joe picked Dent up and slammed him into the corner where he propped his head up and landed some shoulder shots to his face. The period ended. Dent came out as fresh as he did in the first round, while Voisin appeared to be winded and sloppy on his feet. Dent landed several punches and knees as Voisin backed away trying to defend. Dent attempted another knee strike as Voisin caught the knee and took Dent to the ground, again. Before you knew it Dent had the triangle choke applied and Voisin tapped.
Dent wins by triangle choke in the second round. Dent is the 145 lb. Champion.
