- Alea Hunter/IronLife.com: I’d like to start by asking you a little bit about your background. How did you become interested in mixed martial arts, and when did you decide to be a fighter?

“miller"Mayhem Miller: I've always been a fighter.. I just knew that if went around fighting with people in the streets, I'd end up getting stabbed, shot, thrown in prison. I've made some mistakes with the law, and learning from them... The guy who got me into MMA was my friend, a TKD dork named Pierre, who was smaller than me. He was studying Gracie Ju Jitsu, and when we were sparring in the back yard, he choked me unconscious. When I woke up, I was like I'm learning that.

- How did you get the nickname, “Mayhem?”
It came from a friend in Atlanta. It was kind of a crack about the way I get all excited and start talking fast and loud, and after a really crazy fight, he said DAMN, you are Mayhem so it stuck and I brought it back to California with me.

- What’s it like training with Team Oyama and Rampage Jackson?
Don't train with them anymore.. I still miss those guys, but I have a really good program with Marc Laimon here in Las Vegas.

- What is one of your favorite memories training or hanging out with Rampage Jackson?
Just kicking it, riding to training bumping’ in my big red fan with the ghetto blaster system, every time we went through an underpass, Rampage doing his howl, me doing a monkey sound, and talking about being champions in the future. Now it looks like we're both going to be champions soon.

- Okay, now the big questions: You have the biggest fight of your career coming up on October 16 against Ronald “The Machine Gun” Jhun. This is for the Super Brawl welter weight title. How does having this opportunity make you feel?
Great I can't wait to bring home THE STRAP I may just run around Vegas with nothing but a T-shirt and the belt on, like Winne the Pooh.. But I'm not even thinking about that yet.. I have a big test- this is one rock solid Hawaiian, and I'm not taking him lightly. I've never been this focused for a fight. I look at his picture everyday.

- How has it been training for this fight? Have you changed anything in your preparation work for “The Machine Gun?” Who is training you for this fight?
I've prepared very specifically for Jhun. His conditioning is very good, so I've blasted that, and I was in Atlanta training with Velocity Kickboxing for 2 weeks, some really tough standup guys. I came back to Vegas, and at Cobra Kai, I literally have THE best submission wrestling room in the United States.

- Your teammate Tiki Ghosen fought and defeated Ronald Jhun. Have you been able to learn from his experience? Did you watch Ronald’s fight with Lytle at UFC 49? If so, what did you learn from it?
Of course of course, I see parts of his game that I can exploit from ALL his fights, so it's all a matter of getting in there and doing the damn thing.

- In your last fight, in December 2003, you defeated Pride veteran and Super Brawl star Egan Inoue. That was a huge accomplishment; however, you haven’t fought since then. Ronald Jhun has had four fights this year, only one of those being a loss. Do you think this will be an issue in this fight?
Yea, but this isn't my first Rodeo. I might get a little excited during the first round and do some craziness, but I know I'll settle right in, and get the W.

- How would you like this fight to go? Lets here from Mayhem how he sees this fight ending.
The bells rings, and I attack the guy NOT wearing a shirt. Then after some action my hand gets raised. HA You think I'm going to give away the game plan ? I'm not sure, but I think they have computers in Hawaii.

- You were previously scheduled to fight George St. Pierre in the UFC. Although this fell through, do you have any aspirations of fighting in the UFC anytime soon?
Of course... the UFC is THE MMA show in the Estados Unidos. Despite what the keyboard dorks say, they do a damn good job at promoting a good show, although I wish they would bring back the damn RAMP.

- Who do you think will win in terms of George St. Pierre and Matt Hughes at UFC 50?
Honestly, I think that if anyone can score the upset it would be St. Peezy. He has consistently proven himself to be a complete mixed martial artist, and seems to be strong enough to deal with Hughes, although I'm not sure. It's definitely a fight I can't WAIT to see.

- If you could fight anyone after your upcoming fight with Ronald Jhun, who would it be and why?
Not looking past Jhun at all, but like all 170 pounders nowadays, I want to fight BJ Penn. He's another one of those complete fighters, and it would be amazing to get in there and trade with him

- To finish this on a more personal note, what is it that you love to do when you’re not training or fighting? What do you enjoy outside of the world of mixed martial arts?
“miller" I'm kind of a video game dork, love my fricken Xbox and I watch too many damn movies. Sometimes I just watch the scrolling bar at the bottom of CNN, or that stupid channel that tells you what's on TV. In the winter I go snowboarding, and the summer I try to surf, although it looks more like controlled drowning. Every once in a while you can catch me in the club dancing like a goofball.

- Cheers to you, Mayhem.....and good luck
Thank you, ya damn hottie
