As the Ms. Fitness Olympia gets closer, I had another opportunity to speak with Canada's own, Pro Fitness Competitor, Mindi O'Brien, about her prep for the Fitness Olympia. Here's what Mindi's been up to lately.

- Fyre/IronLife.com:Okay we're mid September Mindi, how much longer until you compete at the Fitness Olympia?
Mindi O'Brien: I'm about 7 weeks out.

- You must be getting extremely excited! How about nerves? Are you getting nervous yet?
I am so excited about competing at the Olympia. Surprisingly...I'm not nervous at all. Basically, I am the only rookie this year, so I don't feel any pressure...technically I should come in last. But, I have promised myself that I need to come in with a better package than I did at the SW Pro show, so right now, my main focus is on my training, cardio, nutrition, conditioning and improving my routine.

- How is your prep going?
My preparation is going very well. Although we have a very structured "plan", I am taking one day at a time. I feel really strong throughout all of my workouts and I'm really enjoying the journey.

- Can you give us an idea of how you are eating right now to get ready for the show?
My nutritional intake is constantly changing. My protein intake is staying very high, and I'm constantly shocking my body using different fats and carbohydrates.

- How much time do you spend in the gym?
My training is split up over the day. In the morning I am doing about 30-45 min of varied cardio, in the afternoon I am working on my routine and weight training and conditioning in the evening I'm usually at the track doing sprints and plyometric training. In total, I am training about 3-5 hours a day.

- Do you also do gymnastic and/or choreography sessions or do you do that all on your own?
In the past I have choreographed all of my fitness routines. This year, one of my girlfriends worked on my routine with me. We both came up with different skills/dance and than we put it all together. We had a blast doing it!

- Just out of curiosity Mindi, what kind of body fat level will you get down to, to compete at the Olympia?
I don't have a set goal in mind. Right now, I'm going on how I look and feel. I want to be lean and hard, but I don't want to look depleted. I usually look and feel my best between 8-10% body fat.

- If you don't mind me asking, what weight and body fat are you sitting at right now?
I am currently sitting at around 132-133 lbs and my body fat is probably around 10-12 % right now.

- We know that you are a personal trainer as well. Do you find it difficult to train your clients when you are prepping for such a large show? Will you cut down on the amount of clients that you work with say in the last month before the Olympia?
The Olympia is the most prestigious event in our sport. I am giving it 110% effort. I feel this competition and the athletes deserve the respect, so to answer your question, I will be cutting back on my personal training hours to make sure I am able to give it my all. My clients are all very supportive and understanding. I am always available to them through email or by phone.

- Can you give us an idea of what kind of supplements you are using to help you get ready for this show?
I always use Spotlab Pure Isolate, Sportlab Joint Relief (glucasomine & chondroitin), multi-vitamin, B12 & 6, ALA, and on really exhausting days, I will use a thermogenic, but use only in moderation.

- I know competition dieting can be extremely tough. What is the food you are looking most forward to eating after the show?
Oh, you should know that one by now!!! I LOVE KRISPY KREME DONUTS!!!!

- Before we finish this interview Mindi, is there anything you'd like to say to your many fans out there?
I just want to thank everyone for being so supportive. It really keeps me motivated and helps me stay focused. I don't want to let anyone down.

- I'm looking so forward to seeing you compete at the Olympia Mindi. Thank you once again for taking the time out of your busy schedule to speak with me.

Thank you. Have a great day!
