WMC Title Fight Report - TawaritNoi SKV Gym Vs Timor Daal
by Contender - Member of Ironlife and Owner of www.chokemuay.com
Udon Thani, Thailand is one of the biggest cities in North Eastern Region of Thailand. Having its own unique charm as a city, Udon was once a sleepy provincial city of Isaan. The Vietnam War transformed it into a booming support hub for a nearby American airbase. Since the Americans left, it has continued to grow as an industrial and commercial center. Regardless, UdonThani is not considered an ideal spot to host a Muay Thai World Title match. On August 10, 2004, Udon hosted live on UBC TV, a World Muay Thai Council World Championship Title bout @ Super lightweight 140lbs. The combatants would be Thailand’s own, TawaritNoi SKV Gym vs Timor Daal Jockey Gym (Turkish/Australian).
TawaritNoi is a name in Muay Thai, that most fans know about. He is a former Rajadamnern Stadium Champ from 2000-’02, Undefeated in Japan, and 3 yrs ago had beaten K1 MAX Champ 2004, Buakao PorPramuk, twice. He’s been anxiously waiting to get back in the ring against formidable opponents, and this evening he does, Australia’s Timor Daal.
Timor has been training at Jockey Gym for almost about 7-8 years. He’s fought all over the world. Thailand, S. Korea, and even beat Cambodia’s super star Eh Phuthong earlier this year, which had started a riot and was ruled a no contest, due to riot.
On this day, these nak muays touch gloves, to battle for the prize: the WMC World Champion Super Welterweight Title.
Tawarit Noi (Tang) vs Timor Daal
Round 1
With Timor putting the pressure on early, both fighters are quickly in the fight, trading shots, at a quicker than usually pace. Tawarit teeps Timor frequently, not letting him set up, and Timor works in combos when he can. Jab/ lowkick combo by Timor, brings Tawarit’s attention closer, in this first round. Tawarit seems preoccupied with something elsewhere. Tawarit continues to teep, and Timor is working in hard lowkicks, frustrating the former Rajadamnern Champ. After a few punch flurries by both fighters, Timor continually finalizes his combos with hard, cutting, lowkicks! Towards the end of the first round, Tawarit gets busier with lowkicks and teeps, and at the exact sound of the bell, Tawarit throws a rt elbow that Timor doesn’t appreciate!
Round 2
Off the bell, both fighters exchange several rt kicks to the body. Timor works in more punches, and Tawarit counters with another rt elbow. Both fighters exchange rt kicks, and Tawarit grabs a leg and counters with another rt kick; Timor grabs that rt and also counters with a rt! Both fighters now more focused in this second round, and not giving away any points. Another exchange of lowkicks; Timor kicks to the body, and Tawarit grabs it, lifts up, and Timor is on the mat! Timor comes in fast with punches, there is a melee in the corner, and both fighters continue to exchange punches and lowkicks. Tawarit throws a hard lowkick, followed by a highkick, and Timor answers with a lowkick, a punch flurry, then another lowkick! Timor rushes in with some hard punches, but Tawarit answers back with a hard kick to the body! The round ends with both fighters slappin gloves.
Round 3
After an even exchange of kicks, TawaritNoi came out on top with hard knees to the body. Towards the end of this round, Timor got in a nice solid combo: low kicked, faked a rt kick, and then rocked TawaritNoi with a rt elbow! As they started clinching, the bell rang.
Round 4
Timor comes in with some kicks to the body of TawaritNoi, and then Timor comes with a lft kick to the body. TawaritNoi grabs the kick, and rushes him back. As Timor is bouncing off the ropes, TawaritNoi jumping knees him right in the body! Timor collapses, the look on his face, shows the excruciating pain he is in. The ref gives him an 8 count, and Timor gets up, back into battle. Back in center ring, TawaritNoi low kicks and keeps Timor at a distance. TawaritNoi is ready to finish the fight, and Timor has lost much focus, resulting from the heavy blow. Timor punches to get back into the fight, and TawaritNoi counter with rt kicks to the body. TawaritNoi continues to prevent Timor from attacking with a teep to the face, and low kicks. TawaritNoi continues putting pressure on, and low/mid kick combos. TawaritNoi doubles high rt kicks, and goes into the clinch; he then knees to the body and delivers an elbow, and Timor has been reduced to a tired and frustrated opponent! Timor is trying to catch up, and punches in vain, as the bell sounds. As both fighters proceed to their corner, a trickle of blood rushes from a cut beneath the lft eye of Timor, from the rt elbow of TawaritNoi!
Round 5
With Jean Charles Skarbowsky in Timor’s corner, they both know that in this fifth round, he must do something amazing to win the fight. Timor gets busy with low kicks, and TawaritNoi counters with punch/ low kick counters; TawaritNoi is now playing it safe and trying not to get hit, and rocks Timor’s head back as he walked into his jab; TawaritNoi’s form looks as if he couldn’t get it together against Timor this afternoon. He looks frustrated and apprehensive, and maybe Timor’s style is somewhat frustrating for him, but he definitely is not 100% in there today. JCS coaches Timor to go inside and work more, and TawaritNoi low kicks, and Timor gets inside and trades low kicks; TawaritNoi not a big puncher, but uses many other weapons against Timor. A spinning elbow by TawaritNoi almost connects; Timor tries to get inside, but TawaritNoi teeps to prevent him from getting in an effective range of attack. Timor is gassed, but he keeps coming in and looking for the opening! Back into the clinch, TawaritNoi rocks another elbow on the jaw of Timor! Timor ends the round with a few kicks, and it is far from enough to come back from the deficit made in the 4th round.
TawaritNoi WINS, but it’s safe to say he wasn’t in top form. His last fight was several months ago in Japan. Count TawaritNoi out of the game? I would say no, far from it. Being a champion, he has the skill, experience and the heart of a champion. But even champions must stay in shape/active, skills sharp, and mind focused. TawaritNoi is the new WMC Champ 140lbs. This most likely will open more doors overseas, and keep the motivation and fire alive to fight. The judges rule the bout 49:47, 50:47, 50:47 all in favor of TawaritNoi SKV Gym, WMC World Champion.
