Who wins? Lyle has got a heart of a lion but Shavers got a devastating right hand.

I think Earnie can win it. Seriously his jaw was lousy, but for four rounds he was a beast. Lyle was faster and had a better jaw, but he could easily be caught. With Hw's like these it's always a toss up, but for the reasons stated I go w/ Shavers.

Shavers and Lyle fought in 1976. Lyle won TKO 6 after being down and badly hurt early.

Beat me too it. I goofed. Thinking baout these guys got me thinking about how they did agaisnt the great Jerry Quarry and though they did fight and it did result as you poitn out, the fight actually happened in '75.

As I said, w/ two fighters like this the variables are too great, but this shows how we can't take these things too seriously.

I forgot how long Shavers continuous career was, never mind his come back. Earnie was just too ponderous for his own good and he was too chinny, it's a bit of a shame.
