Where is that from? That could be a great fight, but BJ has gotten rather passive as of late, so you can never tell.

This is going to be a good fight IMO.
I am really wondering if this will be
taped or whatever. i know the Rumble on the Rock Promotion
is not the largest in the world. I am sure that Samurai TV will air it though

The match has been confirmed by the people running the show so barring injury this will happen.

This is an extremely difficult match to call. Both guys not only have extremely similar styles but are also coming off of extremely tough decisions, a draw for Penn and a loss for Gomi. The style clash is intriguing since both men go about their business the same way. Theyre world class submission wrestlers in MMA and have strong boxing skills standing. I'll have to think this one through before making a pick.

I'm sure Gomi will get an easy win.......Penn has been rather unimpressive as of late , and he's really gonna have to pull something big to impress me against Gomi

?

BJ is/was an aggresive forward moving boxer. Gomi isa counter striker. BJ's style was aggresive BJJ, lots of subs and shit. Gomi is a wrestler who lays n prays.

I basically see Gomi looking to take it to the ground early and BJ working from the gaurd. It'll depend largely on how the judges are scoring and what they like. I don't think Gomi has ever seen such a submission master, so that'll have to be taken into effect. On the other hand, if the old Penn shows up he'll be facing someone w/ boxing skills almost as good as Pulver, but this time it'll be a big counter puncher. He shouldn't expect to be able to explode w/ fluries and not pay for it. Penn might be able to clinch for a while and control the pace, once it's on the ground though Gomi will keep it there. Maybe Penn will prove too skilled to let Gomi just lie there so he will have to stanfd up, but he won't let Penn up. Gomi's catch skills might surprise us also, but mostly we'll see a Coleman like performance.

I personally like BJ a lot. I wanted him to beat Pulver, and actually under Pride ruels I think he would have. Pulver was bad ass and arguably still is. Unfortunately I think Pulver stole Penn's fire. I beleive Gomi to be overrated, he is certainly skilled but has faced lack-luster opposition where many other LW's have been facing only the best in efforts to become recognized as the best. Most people see Gomi like unknowledgable boxing fans saw Tyson. That's not a slant on Gomi he's defiantely skilled and will probably continue to do well, but his loss to Hansen pales to BJ's recent draw w/ the great Caol Uno.

BJ sub skills in MMA are ok...He will not sub Gomi or even come near...the only thing I seen bj do sub wise was th freak arm lock on Din Thomas...I think Gomi can pull it out, if he has the right game plan and stick to it

that was an omoplata.
not a freak armlock.
Everyone in BJJ uses that normaly.
I have just never understood why no one
really uses it in MMA

That was not an Omoplatta....It was an armbar with the legs...even if he was going for the Omoplatta his best bet was to get the gogoplatta

look at it again, he NEVER tried for a Omoplatta

Try to get it no-gi on a slippery opponent. You'll see one reason it's not very common in mma.

It can be done but it going to take a really good setup and/or lots of luck. You can easily use it as a kind of a sweep when your opponent stands up in your guard though.

I admit that it is hard to sub a guy with it no gi, but not that hard to actually get. If you can get an armlock form the guard, then you can get an omoplata.

In no gi the way i defend it is liek how pele did against Newton. i just stand up and run away from teh hold. usually i slip right out (no gi that is)

Now that I think of it the armbar to omoplata combo might work well in mma since a lot of fighters defend the armbar from guard by just pulling the arm out.

yes, they are going to wrap their hands in tape and then dip them in glue and then glass. 2 men enter, one man leaves

This was posted by the ROTR promoter on the UG.....

Well I got the fight signed and we are happy for that.
As much as BJ wanted there to be very few rules, Gomi did not like the stopms, kicks, knees or elbows on the ground or to a downed fighter.

I was able to get the elbows allowed (all types). So basically UFC rules (with downword elbows).

There will be judges there.

There can be NO DRAW! If it is a draw there will be extra 3 minute rounds until there is a winner.

I can not wait for the fight. I just got through training with BJ and he is looking GREAT!

I hope Gomi has the fight of his life necause BJ will.

I hope you guys like the card so far. I might have a HUGE suprise for you all in a bit.

I will let you know.

Only at Rumble On The Rock!!!!!
